Action from Anfield on Tuesday as Chelsea take on Liverpool in the first leg of the League Cup semi final. Liverpool will look at this competition as a reasonable chance of a trophy and maybe their best chance of one. Brendan Rodgers side have been playing well of late and have won four of their last five in all competitions. Unbeaten in eight the reds have reason to believe they can give Chelsea a game over the two legs but surely must win the home fixture to have a chance of progressing. When the two sides met in Anfield in the Premier League,Chelsea came away with a 2-1 win. Stephen Gerrard , Borini, Sterling,Couthino and Markovich all picking up some form of late Liverpool fans will be hoping that they can bring this form into this game and turn over the league leaders.
With Jose Mourhino nothing is ever as it seems but the Chelsea boss is one of the best in the business and will be looking to get to another final when his team faces Liverpool on Tuesday. His Chelsea side were brilliant at the weekend against Swansea scoring five but putting in a ten star performance. With Mourhino likely to give Andre Schurrle and Loic Remy starts tonight this wont be Chelsea's best team. Diego Costa is likely to get a rest along with one of Hazard or Fabregas. Chelsea have been brilliant all season though and are still on course for four cup's. Will Mourhino go all out and start a full team? Probably not but the strength in depth of the blues is truly remarkable considering Schurrle, Remy and Oscar can not get regular game time.
What should be a good game here and one I will be settling in to watch in full. I think that Liverpool will not be afraid of Chelsea, they played well enough in the Premier League game in November to say they have a chance of upsetting the league leaders tonight. I think we see goals here though either way. I am taking the overs and will be having a small bet on Liverpool to win outright. Liverpool have wrecked my head most of this season in trying to figure out how they will play and whether they will be jekyl or Hyde but tonight I am hoping we see the free flowing football that Liverpool played against Swansea a couple of weeks back.
