The second semi final of the league cup comes from White Hart Lane where Tottenham Hotspur take on league one side Sheffield United. Sheffield are the only non premier league team left in the competition and it is a big ask for the Blades to get through to the final but having knocked out Southampton in the quarter finals and QPR in the Fa Cup there will be no shortage of confidence in the Sheffield United team. With Campbell Ryce and Mcnulty they have players capable of causing problems for Tottenham and have actually proven themselves to be solid defensively especially against the two Premier League sides.
Tottenham have won four of their last five at home and are unbeaten in their last nine in all competitions at home. Christian Erickson has been absolutley sensational for Tottenham this season and has been the match winner for Spurs on numerous occasions. With Harry Kane also playing well this is an interesting team to watch. Tottenham always look decent going forward and the team has settled in to play the type of football Pochettino wants to play. If they continue to do that then the Champions League is not beyond them but this competition represents a real opportunity of winning a trophy and I think Tottenham players, fans and the management will be keen to at least make it to the final.
Taking the overs here, not a strong play but I believe that Tottenham will have too much firepower for Sheffield United. While United did beat Southampton they beat them during a horrific run of form and were lucky on the night. Beating QPR isnt exactly a ringing endorsement either as the R's are really struggling at the moment. I just think Sheffield United havent faced a quality forward line like Spurs possess and that could be the difference in the end.
