Ghana are on the verge of going out of the Cup if they lose to Algeria on Friday as their opening round loss to Senegal has left them in a hole. Algeria were excellent when beating South Africa 3-1 with Tottenham's Bentalab, Valencia's Foughuli and Sporting lisbon's Slimani being particularly impressive. Gourcuff's side will look to qualify for the knockout stages with a win here against a Ghana team that struggled in their opening fixture.
Ghana are managed by former Chelsea boss Avram Grant and at the moment he is struggling to get the right balance on the field. Ghana lost alot of players to retirement recently and this is a very young side led by the Ayew brothers. There are no players above the age of 29 in this Ghana squad so to say this is a rebuilding period would be understating the transition period that Ghana are currently going through.
I think Algeria will get the win here, this is a tough game for both sides as Ghana are a strong team and they will not want to exit in the group stages but given the transition they are currently going through and the impressive showing of Algeria in their opening round game I think the smart play is to take Algeria.
