Fa Cup action on Monday evening from Rochdale as the league one side take on Stoke City. With a weekend of shocks Stoke will be well aware of the possibility of being overturned on monday. Mark Hughes will have his team focused on the job at hand as he knows all too well about cup shocks. Missing Diouf who is away at the African Cup of Nations, Hughes will turn to his experienced duo of Peter Crouch and Jonation Walters to lead the way. Former Barcelona star Bojan will be key to how Stoke play going forward as he has been excellent this season and is growing into his role in midfield as the season progresses. Stoke are a tough team to beat being physically strong and with some attacking flair in midfield and a solif front two.
Rochdale will be dreaming of a place in the fifth round after seeing many of their cohorts pulling off shocks across the board. The biggest shock of the weekend was undoubtedly Bradford City's win over Chelse and Rochdale sitting above Bradford will think that this game represents a genuine chance of a shock. With Henderson and Vincenti up front Rochdale have a partnership that has netted ninteen goals this year and will take marking. This game will obviously be against much better opposition but Rochdale under Keith Hill have progressed year on year. After being promoted last season from League Two Rochdale are now right in the mic for promotion from League one. So while this game is a novelty as such and a good chance to test themselves against Premier League opposition Rochdale know that promotion to the Championship would be a much bigger achievement.
This one has all the hallmarks of a cracking cup tie. A high flying lower league side taking on a mid table Premier League team, with the shocks of the weekend it would be just wrong to ignore this one so I said I would cover it for the SPC faithful. I am going to take the Rochdale on the handicap. We should get a goal headstart here and I think at worst we push. Rochdale may even cause another shock in the tournament and send Stoke packing.
