With Hull City managing to hold Manchester City to a draw on Saturday their confidence will be sky high, this is a team that went to Manchester and was expected to be hammered instead they come into this game against Aston Villa after one of the best away performances of the year in the Premier League. Hull's performance though was not just one of defensive resolve, Hull created chances and the goal they scored was coming for about ten minutes before hand. Steve Bruce's side have been very unlucky with both injuries and some poor decisions going against them at vital times. Jelavich, Hernandez and Brady will have to get more goals though if Hull are to stay in the league. The poor return from the strikers has mitigated the strong play of Hull's defence.
Aston Villa have had the same season long problem of not being able to score enough goals. Paul Lambert's men are heavily reliant on Benteke, Agbonlahor and Weimann but none of the three has really caught fire this season. Benteke is the most talented player on Villa's roster but he is just not playing well enough at the moment and scoring goals has become a real difficulty for the team. Villa have only scored twelve goals this season and that really is a pathethic return, in fact it is amazing that they are not rooted to the bottom of the league table.
This is going to be a defensive struggle we have two mean defences going up against two limp offences. The bets on a 0-0 here will be flowing in but I am going to take the unders. I think Hull might sneak this one as I think they have shown a little more creatiity of late and given that it is at home they should be able to take advantage.
