Shakhtar Donetsk host Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in the L'viv Arena. Although this is a home game for Shakthar because of the current turmoil in the Ukraine this game is being played in L'Viv. Shakhtar also come into this game in the middle of their winter break so they have not played a competitive game since drawing with Porto on the 10th of December. This obviously leaves Shakhtar at an enormous disadvantage and as if that disadvantage wasnt enough they now face a Bayern Munich team that just won 8-0 at the weekend! With a panel of talented Brazilians including the brilliant Luiz Adriano there is enough in this squad to cause problems for any team on their day, can they really take on the might of Bayern though? Texeira, Bernard and Adriano will cause some problems for Bayern defensively but will that be enough to cause a massive shock?
With Bayern Munich taking on Shakhtar this week there was some talk that Guardiola would rest players in the Bundesliga last weekend, an 8-0 win and no rested player tells a story of its own kind. This is a terrific panel of players and Bayern have ridiculous strength in depth. With Robben, Ribery, Goetze all the playmakers with a couple of Lewandowski and Muller up top this is a panel of players that can be compared to anyone else in the world including Barcelona and Real Madrid. Bayern have deservedly been made favourites for the competition and although this is a tricky contest it surely cant finish any other way than a bayern win, can it?
I am taking the overs here. I cant see anything other than goals here, even if Bayern go there and win I think they will need to score two as Shakhtar will not be just here to make up the numbers. Shakhtar are a quality team and they will give Bayern a good game here but I think the lack of quality match practice will catch up on them. Taking the overs here.
