The Manchester Derby comes from Old Trafford today as Manchester United look to cement their place above Manchester City in the league. United could move four points clear of city if they can beat the sky blues today. Louis Van Gaal seems to have found the perfect balance for his squad with Rooney, Fellaini and Mata playing as an unorthodox front three. United have been very impressive in recent weeks and have come from seven points behind City to be a point ahead. If United win today and Chelsea slip up at QPR, the United fans may well start to dream of a Title tilt this year. Probably a year too early but certainly not beyond the realms of possibility. Mata and Fellaini have been excellent for United in their current strong run of form and will look to take the game to City. Fellaini in particular will keep the Manchester City backline busy and that battle could be key to who comes away with the win here.
While Manchester City are struggling form wise they still have terrific players, Ya Ya Toure, Kompany, Aguero are all top top players and if given half a chance today they could make this United defence pay for any mistakes. United's defence have been less than impressive at times this year and a player of Aguero's quality only needs half a chance to make a team pay for a mistake. City will be hurting big time after losing to three of their last four and Manuel Pochettino will be looking for a big reaction from his side this afternoon. Lose today and Manchester City are more or less out of the title race.
Two quality sides comign face to face in a derby game with huge implications for both teams in their battle for the title, this couldnt be poised any better. I am going to take the overs, I do think there will be some tension here but given how much Derby games mean to the fans I think we will see 100% commitment from both teams and I also think we will see goals. Quite often these top of the table clashes go under as both teams are set up to not lose. There is a chance of course this happens today but I dont think it will as I think Manchester City must come out and win today. Manchester City have won the last four meetings between the two but if I was to take a side today it would be the red half and Manchester United.
