The 10 Best Players in the English Premier League
10. Mezut Ozil (Arsenal)
The Arsenal playmaker was terrific when he returned from injury, having played an integral part in both Arsenal's FA Cup run and Germany's win at the World Cup Ozil is fulfilling his massive potential. Look for Ozil to be even better in 2015/2016.
9. Christian Erikson (Tottenham)
While many would argue that Harry Kane should be on this list Erikson's contribution to Tottenham this season has arguably been more important. Many of Kane's goals were the product of the Erikson's assists and Erikson also chipped in with ten goals, five of which were game winners.
The former Atletico Madrid forward scored twenty goals in twenty six games in his first season in the Premier League. Quite often there is a season of settling in required before teams see the best of their foreign investments but Chelsea got the best from Costa from the off.The tact that Costa missed twelve games and was probably never 100% is even more impressive. If Chelsea cn keep Costa fit next season the Champions League will become an achievable target.
7. David Silva (Manchester City)
David Silva had a down season in a team that struggled to repeat the brilliance of last season. Silva scored twelve and had seven assists though and his all round ability has him still included in the top ten in the league. Silva is the fulcrum in City's midfield and will be a key figure for Manchester City next season if they are going to reclaim their Premier League crown.
6.Wayne Rooney ( Manchester United)
While Wayne Rooney is another on this list that may have had a slight down turn this season the Manchester United captain is one of the best players in the league and has consistantly kept Manchester United relevant over the last two season's when they rest of the team has struggled. Rooney is a player that may not ever fulfill the enormous potential he showed as a sixteen year old with Everton but he is worthy of inclusion on this list and the only Englishman.
5.Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)
The return of Cesc to tthe Premier League brought a league title to Stamford Bridge and alot of regrets to Arsenal fans. Fabregas was brilliant this season and he managed eighteen assists this year, seven more than his nearest rival and a reminder of the brilliance with which he played this season. There was a little mid season slump but Fabregas still finished the season well, scoring a couple of important goals in big games and being Chelsea's second best player this season.
4. David De Gea (Manchester United)
The best goalkeeper in the World right now De Gea is the reason Manchester United fans can look forward to Champions League football next season. Number 1 priority for United is keeping De Gea this off season as Real Madrid look to test their resolve with a big money bid. De Gea was simply outstanding this year and deserves inclusion in any top ten player list from the Premier League.
3. Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
Probably the best signing of the off season last year was Sanchez to Arsenal as Alexis was simply outstanding from start to finish this season and will be even better next year in my opinion. It says alot for Sanchez and Fabregas that they left a Barcelona team where they were under appreciated to become two of the main players in two of the best teams in the Premier league. Sanchez went from being Messi's sidekick to being the main man at Arsenal and he finsihed the season with sixteen goals and eight assists but the most impressive things were his give everything performances.
2. Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Eden Hazard is a brilliant player ddeserving of his player of the year award and someone that Chelsea plan to build a team around for the next decade. With his terrific balance and creativity Hazard could step up to the next level if he continues to improve as he has done over the last two years. There are little things he needs to get rid of, the diving is one and he could possibly work a little harder when going backwards but Hazard is a complete package and already moving in the direction of the Balon D'or shortlist for next season.
1. Sergio Aguero ( Manchester City)
It's always hard when compiling these lists to pick the top player ,but in my opinion Sergio Aguero is the best in the Premier League. Not only did Aguero finish top scorer in the league but he was in the top five in assists as well. He single handedly kept Manchester City in the hunt for long periods of the season and when fit he gives 100% all of the time. For any doubting Aguero's position on this list remember that in addition to twenty six goals in thirty starts he also scored six in eight in the Champions League. Including a hat trick against Bayern Munich.
