The battle for Champions League contines in Italy alone as Napoli host Lazio on Sunday night knowing that the winner will qualify for the Champions League. It is slightly less do or die that that for Lazio as a draw for the club from Rome will be enough to guarantee them a place in the qualifying stages for their first attempt at the the Champions League since 2007/2008. With a strong squad led by Candreva, Klose and Felipe Anderson Lazio will take the game to Napoli here knowing that a point is enough for them. While I dont think Lazio will be reckless in attack I think they will try to score early get something to sit back and defend with. Defending at 0-0 is very tough for 90 minutes and I cant see Lazio doing that, in fact their best form of defence may be attack here.
Napoli will say goodbye to Rafa Benitez on Sunday as the manager leaves at the end of this game, probably to take up the role of Manager at Real Madrid. But on hand here on Sunday is a huge game as Napoli know a win over Lazio will leave them in third and the qualifying position for the Champions League. Napoli's strength is in their attack where Higuain, Hamsik, Callejon and Mertens will look to become hero's on Sunday. Napoli have struggled for consistancy all season however they have been excellent at home winning seven of their last nine. Napoli have been given this opportunity because Lazio failed to pick up a point at home against Inter and Roma and this is the type of chance that Napoli cant pass up if they want to improve in the off season. It is alot easier to attract top players and a top manager if they have Champions League football.
I'm taking the overs here. I think this is going to be a tough one to call and I do fancy Napoli to get the win because they are at home and it is the last game for Benitez, I think the club as a whole needs a win here and I think they probably get it at the expense of a Lazio team that really do deserve Champions League football on how well they have done all season.
