A glamour friendly from the International series on Friday night as the Netherlands take on the United States in the Amsterdam Arena. With Holland facing a must win Euro 2016 game in a week this will be an important game for Gus Hiddinks men and it will be interesting to see if Hiddink plays a full side and how long he will give them. Van Persie needs game time and I expect him to get atleast 60 minutes against the US as he is the key player for the dutch. Memphis Depay could start up front with Van Persie as the newly signed Manchester United recruit had a very successful season in the dutch league. Tim Krull has been excellent all season for Newcastle and probably deserves a shot at the goalkeepers job here for Holland but Cillessen has his hands on the jersey and it is difficult for goalkeepers to play their way in unless an injury or mistake happens. My question though is can Hiddink get the right mix for his team to be successful after a poor start to the Euro qualifying campaign?
The USA come into this game as a warm up fixture to the upcoming Gold Cup competition. The US bring a strong squad to play this game with tottenhams Yedlin being among the most exciting prospects on the american team. Michael Bradley, Beckerman and and Jones will have their hands full taking care of the dutch midfield. Aguedelo and Zardes may get a chance to stake their claim for a starting role up front with many of the older players retired or currently injured. Klinsmann has similar problems to Hiddink in that he is trying to find the best balance for the squad he has, the former German center forward has spent a long time trying to fit square pegs in round holes. Klinsmann maybe needs to take a step back realise the limitatins of his squad and base his tactics around the players he actually has. This is a good hard working side and they are hard to beat because of that.
Tough to call friendlies but i am taking the netherlands -1 here, I think they will need some confidence going into the qualifier next week and I expect a strong dutch team to start and think that they will look to put his game away and score a few goals. RVP and Depay could give us a preview of what Manchester United's forward line will look like here and will be interesting for alot of club spectators. As with all friendlies we wont be investing much in this one but it is worth taking an interest in.
