Japan and Cameroon meet Friday night in their second matchup of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Japan is coming off a 1-0 win over Switzerland in its opening match. Despite controlling the ball for just 45 percent of the match and getting just three of its 15 shot attempts on goal, Japan picked up right where it left off in 2011 when the team won the title. Aya Miyama found the net on a penalty kick that ended up deciding the game, while goalie Erina Yamane blocked all three shots and played a terrific game as the last line of defense. In fact, Japan’s defense was the deciding factor in its opening game, as it avoided a few close calls and really buckled down in the second half to avoid a potential draw. However, Japan has to turn back to its aggressive offense and get back to plenty of shots on goal that we saw in the last World Cup. The passive play on a lead isn’t going to work.

2015 FIFA Women's World Cup: Japan vs. Cameroon Pick, Odds, Prediction - 6/12/15

Cameroon and its 6-0 win over Ecuador has to be the biggest surprise of the tournament so far. Cameroon is far from a great offensive team, as it relies heavily on its defense and physical style of play. However, Madeleine Ngono Mani found the net first and Gaelle Enganamouit later chipped in three goals for her country. Cameroon controlled the ball 53 percent of the match and got 14 of its 25 shots on goal. Oh, and the defense was there as well, as Annette Ngo Ndom saved both shots on goal and Cameroon stuck to its physicality by creating 16 fouls and one yellow card. If I’m not sure if Cameroon can continue this level of play, but it certainly turned some heads and makes this team a potential sleeper in later matches.

We all know what Japan can do and should be a big favorite for a reason given its past history. However, I’m not sure what to expect from Cameroon, a team that’s not good offensively but found an equal balance in its first match. Can that keep up? Is there another potential upset in the making here if it does?

I hae no idea what to expect in this match. If Cameroon plays the same way it did in its opening match, there's a chance for an upset. That's why I'm taking the free goal if forced to pick this game.
