Chile look to continue their winning ways when take on a Mexico side who are missing alot of their star names. Chile as host nation are one of the favourites for the competition and for me are the only one of the top teams to play well and get a result. Led by star men Vidal and Sanchez the Chileans got off to a slow start against Ecuador but converted two chances in the second half to come away with the win. Chile are a good side defensively sound with a top goalkeeper in Claudio Bravo of Real Madrid who also happens to be captain. While there is a little fire in the belly as well they have exceptional skillsets and a top array of passing. Sanchez is a clinical finisher and provider of chances for the side and he can switch between being the guy who leads the line and the key pass maker who drops deep, he laid on a beautiful through ball for Vargas for the second goal. Chile will get the chance to take control of the group on Monday and it is one I dont think they will let slip by.
Mexico played quite well against Bolivia but were just unable to finish any of the chances they created. There were a couple of close calls for penalties that did seem to go against the Mexicans though and I think that this experimental side showed enough for Mexican fans to be looking forward to the future. Mexico will play a fast pace here and try to hit Chile on the counter attack. With Marquez playing a sweepers role Mexico are not going to be easily turned over but the forward pairing of Vuosa and Herrera are going to have to finish some of their chances if they are to get anything from this game.
After the first round of games it's tought to say any team really stood out with the excpetion of maybe Chile and the great result Venezuela had against Colombia. For me though Chile showed enough to think that they will have far too much firepower for Mexico tonight. I'm taking Chile big to get the win (and atone for Colombia's poor performance yesterday) I will also be taking Chile on the handicap.
