Manchester United Transfer News 06/17/2015
A round up of the stories circulating about Manchester United, their prospective new players and current players who are headed for the exit sign:
More than likely the Portugese winger is headed for the exit after being reportedly told he is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. With United having Di Maria, Mata, Young and Januzai in the squad it is unlikely that Nani stays and having had an impressive loan spell at former club Sporting CP of Lisbon it would not be surprising to see him rejoin the Portugese side. There may be some stumbling blocks there though with wages and a transfer fee possibly ruling him out of a return. Inter Milan have also reportedly shown interest in taking Nani to the San Siro and I think a cut price deal will see this move go through before pre season returns.
David De Gea
Former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea is being consistantly linked with a move to the Bernebeau and Real Madrid. This is of course a tactic used by Real over the years to unsettle players and it is surprisingly successful. De Gea of course being from Spain may want the move to happen but United are unlikely to sell to Real unless there is a substantial offer on the table. One that has been thrown out there is a Benzema + cash for De Gea deal which in a way would make sense for both sides. Benzema can offer Van Gaal's side another option up top and with Victor Valdes on the bench United do have a world class keeper in their squad already. I think though Manchester United would prefer to tie De Gea to a long term deal and the only way they sell is if Real Madrid splash the cash or offer up one of their superstars in exchange.
Bastian Schweinsteiger has all but ruled out moving from Bayern Munich and that knocks previous rumours linking the German captain with a move to United but his international colleague Matts Hummels is now being quoted as saying his future is unsure at Borussia Dortmund. Many thought the German center half would stay at Dortmund especially after Marco Reus extended his stay with a long term contract but the exit of Jurgen Klopp has left the door open for a move for Hummels who would reportedly cost in the region of £20million. Corriere dello Sport have reported talk of Hummels signing for United being immenent I am not sure it's quite such a done deal but it would be a huge signing for United and if it happens I think the Red Devils will be in the hunt both for the Premier League title and maybe even the Champions League.
A rumout that refuses to go away that Manchester United are chasing Felipe Anderson and are close to a £30million move for the Lazio winger/striker seems to have some truth in it. If this does happen I think United may be negotiating to move Angel Di Maria out to PSG as that is another rumour that looks to have some substance. At the moment we'll continue to monitor the situation at both clubs but I think this one is unlikely. Lazio just qualified for the Champions League for the first time in a long time and they will want to hold onto their best player of last season not sell him.
Dispelling the previous rumours
Both Bacca and Falcao were mentioned as possible signings early in the window but United did not pick up the option to buy Falcao from Monaco, a mistake in many opinions least of which is Chelsea boss Jose Mourhino as it looks like Chelsea are going to sign Falcao to a five year deal with the Colombian striker reportedly agreeing personal terms. All that is left is for Chelsea and Monaco to hash out a fee agreement which should be done by the end of the week.
After a terrific Europa League final Bacca was linked with a move to the Red Devils but it was one that never seemed likely in my opinion. Bacca currently on Copa America duty with Colombia is now being linked with a move to Roma. The player fits the gap there in my opinion and would be a terrific signing for a team that struggled to score goals last season. Bacca could flourish at the Italian capital and I think the transfer fee will be big enough to force Sevilla's hand.
