China and the United States meet Friday night in the quarterfinals of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

China eliminated Cameroon with a 1-0 victory and has now won two of its four matches. China is a defensive team that’s not going to change its stripes, as it’s allowed three goals all tournament and just 12 shots on target in its last three matches combined. Wang Fei has allowed all three goals and has 13 saves. China has allowed no more than five shots on goal in a single match. Offensively, Wang Lisi and Shanshan Wang have combined for all four of China’s goals, while Tan Ruyin has an assist and one shot attempt. China isn’t a great offensive team, as it relies on great defense and waits for its opponent to make the mistake before capitalizing. China has scored four times on a total of 21 shots on target.

2015 FIFA Women's World Cup: China vs. United States Pick, Odds, Prediction - 6/26/15

USA TODAY Sports

The United States sent Colombia home with a 2-0 victory. The U.S. has yet to lose the time of possession battle and has also flexed its muscle on the defensive side. The United States hasn’t allowed a goal in its last three matches and just four shots on target during that span. Hope Solo has come away with nine saves this tournament. Offensively, Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan have combined for three goals, while Sydney Leroux has an assist and three shot attempts. The U.S. has scored six goals on 20 shots on target this tournament. The United States still has yet to provide us with that breakthrough performance, which could be a good or bad thing. Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday are banned from this game after picking up two yellow cards.

This is another interesting match for the Americans, as China is a team that’s not going to beat itself and will make the U.S. pay if any mistakes are made. The United States has to be careful and aware of China’s high IQ. It’s also a little worrisome that the U.S. will be playing without two key players for this match.

We have yet to see a match where the Americans really start clicking offensively, and we know it's coming eventually. China will put up a fight but doesn't have the overall talent to keep up. I like America to win by at least one goal.
