The Houston Dynamo and San Jose Earthquakes play Friday night at the Avaya Stadium.
The Houston Dynamo could use a victory after winning just one of their last six matches. The Houston Dynamo just can’t get things going on the defensive side, as they’ve allowed at least one goal in 15 of their 18 matches and five goals in their last three MLS matches. Tyler Deric has come away with 44 saves and has allowed six goals in his last three starts. Offensively, the Dynamo have been shutout seven times and scored one or less goals overall in 13 of their 18 matches. Will Bruin leads Houston with seven goals, Brad Davis has four assists and Giles Barnes has 50 shot attempts. The Houston Dynamo haven’t won any of their last four road games, which includes one draw and three losses.
USA TODAY Sports
The San Jose Earthquakes look to gain even more ground after winning two of their last three matches. The San Jose Earthquakes are a great defensive team that’s pitched five shutouts in 17 matches and allowed two or more goals just five times. David Bingham has come away with 60 saves and allowed just two goals in his last four starts. Offensively, the San Jose Earthquakes have scored two or more goals five times and have scored five goals in their last three MLS matches. Chris Wondolowski leads San Jose with nine goals, Matias Perez Garcia has six assists and Sanna Nyassi has 17 shot attempts. The San Jose Earthquakes haven’t lost in five straight home matches, which includes three wins and two draws. Ty Harden and Steven Lenhart are questionable with injuries.
The San Jose Earthquakes won the meeting back in May, 1-0, and has won the last two meetings overall. However, the Houston Dynamo have won three of the last five meetings.
The Houston Dynamo are showing very little consistency as of late and have played their worst soccer away from home. The San Jose Earthquakes are starting to put things together in hopes of making a run in the standings. I like San Jose at home to get the job done.
