The Columbus Crew SC and Chicago Fire square off Wednesday night at Toyota Park.
The Columbus Crew SC look to keep chipping away after picking up points in four of their last five matches. The Columbus Crew SC are an offensive team that’s scored two or more goals in 10 of their 19 matches and six goals in their last four MLS matches. Kei Kamara leads Columbus with 12 goals, Ethan Finlay has 10 assists and Justin Meram has 46 shot attempts. Defensively, the Columbus Crew SC could improve greatly, as they’ve pitched just three shutouts and allowed two or more goals in 11 of their matches. Steve Clark has come away with 63 saves and has allowed six goals in his last three starts. The Columbus Crew SC haven’t won any of their last six MLS road matches, which includes four losses and two draws.

The Chicago Fire could use a win after losing four of their last six matches. The Chicago Fire have scored a goal in 12 of their 17 matches and have scored just two goals in their last four MLS matches. Jeff Larentowicz leads Chicago with four goals, Harry Shipp has five assists and Quincy Amarikwa has 32 shot attempts. Defensively, the Chicago Fire have pitched four shutouts and allowed at least two goals in nine of their matches. Sean Johnson has come away with 22 saves and has allowed two goals in his last three starts. The Chicago Fire have split their last four home matches. Shaun Maloney and David Accam are questionable with injuries.
The last two matches, including the meeting back in May have resulted in draws. Chicago has not beaten Columbus since June of 2013, as the Fire are just 0-2-2 in the last four meetings. The last four meetings have produced at least two goals.
Both of these teams have had their moments on the offensive side but have shown their shortcomings on defense. When you add in that a lot of their recent meetings have been high scoring, I like the chances of the over hitting in this match.
