Chelsea make their debut in the International Champions Cup when they take on New York Red Bulls at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Wednesday night/Thursday morning depending where in the world you are located. Chelsea have taken a full squad with just a couple of players late back following the Copa America. But for Chelsea fans stateside they are going to get to see Diego Costa, Hazard, Terry, Courtois , Fabregas and of course the main man and Manager Jose Mourhino. Most of the first team players played in both pre season games but Chelsea have struggled to put the ball in the net and won both games 1-0. I expect more from Chelsea this time out as the season is just over three weeks away it is time to ramp things up for the defending Premier League Champions.
New York Red Bulls are having a terrific season led by Bradley Wroght Phillips who again is excelling in the MLS having moved over from England in 2013. Wright Phillips bagged 31 goals last season and while he hasnt been as prolific this year he has 8 in 19 and is the main man for the Red Bulls. New York will look to frustrate Chelsea, play a packed midfield and hit the Premier League side on the counter attack. This should be a good game though as Chelsea have so much talent in their squad depth with almost every player trying to force his way into Mourhino's plans for this season.
After two rather inept attacking displays in the pre season thus far I think Mourhino's side ramp things up here and I expect to see goals. New York though are a good side as well and I think they can get themselves on the scoresheet here, hence the reason I am taking the overs in the game. We are getting a relatively decent price as well which always helps. Take the overs and cash another pre season winner.
