The International Champions Cup continues in California on Saturday as Manchester United and Barcelona go head to head at the Levi's stadium. Luis Enrique will be without star man Lionel Messi and Neymar as both were excluded from the US Tour , given more time to rest after their international exploits in the summer. Luis Suarez is now the key man for this Barcelona side and he scored in their last pre season game against La Galaxy. Barcelona still have a glut of stars to pick from with Iniesta, Busquets , Rakitic and Pedro all looking to cement a place in the starting eleven. On Saturday they face a tough test against a manchester United team who are still rebuilding.
United again splashed the cash this summer bringing in Memphis Depay, Van Persie exited to Fenerbache and thetwobiggest moves forUnited were to bring in Schneiderlein and Schwiesteiger. This has been an area of weakness for United going right back to when Roy Keane was still with the Red Devils. While this is only a friendly Louis Van Gaal and his side will want to get one over on the European Champions. Manchester United were impressive against San Jose Earthquakes last time out and look for Van Gaal to play a similar side on Saturday led by captain and star man Wayne Rooney. With Mata, Rooney and Depay all looking really comfortable right now in a new look Manchester United team it's exciting times for fans and players alike as wesee where this project is heading. Manchester United want to be Champions of Europe again so a pre season friendly against the Champions is a good place to test themselves.
This one being a friendly is hard to call but I have to say I think there is some value in taking Manchester United straight up. United look to me to be stronger than Barcelona right now, especially considering that Barca will be missing Messi and Neymar. Given that United are underdogs for this one I cant help but see that as a strong play right now. Either way though I am taking both teams to score here as I see this being more exhibition than battle of defence. Expect to see both teams make at least 5 or 6 changes during the course of the game. This one should definitely be entertaining though and one that fans of football should try to get a look at.
