West Ham take on Romanian side Astra in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday with question marks over West Ham's poor play in the previous round as West Ham struggled mightily against the Maltese side and only managed to squeeze through on penalties. New West Ham boss Slaven Bilic isnt working with a full squad yet but he has alot of players coming back in the off season who are struggling for full fitness. Bilic put out a strong line up though in both games against Birkirkara and I expect a similar line up tonight with Collins, Nolan and Amalfitano and Zarate all expected to start. If West Ham play well tonight they should be good enough to get the win but this will be a tough game against a defensively sound outfit.
Astra were conquerers of Inverness in the last round but the Romanian side just barely did enough winning the away leg 1-0 and drawing the home tie 0-0. Astra have an international feel to their side with a good mix of Brazilians thrown in. William, Rick Boldrin , Seto will lead the line for Astra but goals are hard to come by for Astra and they may struggle against this defensively sound West Ham team.
I havent seen alot of Astra to be honest, I watched both legs against Inverness though and defensively they are definitely a good side. I am going to take the unders in the game here as I think West Ham are not quite up to match fitness and Astra should bring a solid game to Upton Park on Thursday night. The unders should pay pretty well in this one.
