The Line: Inverness 7/10 Draw 14/5 Motherwell 4/1 See the Latest Odds
One of the games of the weekend in Scotland will see last year's surprise package Inverness CT take on Motherwell who just barely survived in the league as it took a playoff against Rangers to keep them in the Premier League. Motherwell are historically one of the big sides in Scotland and last season's poor showing will have been a kick in the teeth for the loyal fans of Fir Park. Having lost last seasons top scorer John Sutton to Saint Johnstone there will be even more pressure on former Celtic striker Scott Macdonald who managed five goals in elevn games last year. Motherwell will be doing well to stay competitive here against a strong Inverness team.
Inverness have already had two competitive games against Astra in the Europa League and they were desperately unlucky to go out of the competition losing a tight battle at home 1-0 before drawing 0-0 away in a game they could and probably should have won. Inverness were excellent last season and will be looking to build on that success this year. They did lose Watkins in the off season though and he will be a big loss as he provided goals and creativity in the midfield, Inverness also didnt really replace Mccay yet who was their top scorer last season with ten goals in twenty two games and he left in January. Inverness are struggling for firepower at the moment and it will be interesting to see if summer signing Dani Lopez can provide the spark they need up front.
Tough one to call and one that I wont be investing much money in but I like the look of Motherwell on the handicap here. Inverness is a very tough place to go and win but the home side are really struggling to put the ball in the net and Motherwell have a couple of players like Macdonald who can take a chance if it comes their way. I'm taking Motherwell +1 at evens.
