Action from Ligue 1 on Friday night as Monaco play host to Lille. Lille gave a good account of themselves on opening night holding PSG for most of the game only to succumb to a 1-0 loss. Lille have a really solid defence one of the best in France and were the same last year really playing tough to beat football at home, their problems though have come away from home where they just have been unable to be as solid. Civilly , Pavard and Beautheauc will provide the quality in defence and midfield but the question will be can Lille get anything going up front where they have struggled both last season and in pre season. Tallo and Mendes will be the preferred partnership but the question is can they score enough goals to see Lille compete at the top end of Ligue 1?
Monaco lost a number of quality players at the start of the transfer window with both Falcao and Berbatov not coming back to the Stade Louis II but the sale of Kondogbia was one of the biggest losses of any team this season. The midfielder was brilliant last season and Monaco were supposed to miss him immensley , however that hasnt been the case as Bernard Silva, Mouthino and the recent Milan signing El Shaarawy have come into the type of form that will see Monaco compete for the title. El Shaarawy looks sharp, he has scored two goals in three substitute appearances this season thats more than he scored in the entire year last year. Martial is still the starter up top and looks to be continuing on this season from where he left off last and that is scoring goals and creating chances. Monaco's success last season though was based on a terrific defence and they look to be solid again this season.
While this looks on paper a standout game for unders especially given Lille's struggles up front the odds of 1/2 are just too short. The overs at 6/4 looks too big, this is for a number of reasons, Monaco are scoring goals and doing so pretty freely and as good as their defence is they have been a little lapse at times already this season. Taking the overs here is the smart play and the value one.
