The first home game of the season for Liverpool as they host newly promoted Bournemouth at Anfield on Monday night football. Liverpool come into the game off the back of a great 1-0 win over Stoke with Philip Couthino scoring a terrific goal five minutes from the end. Liverpool have had a busy off season with six players coming in and Raheem Sterling leaving for Manchester City. Benteke and Firmino both made their competitive debut's last week for Liverpool and the former Aston Villa center forward was impressive. Firminho's cameo for eleven minutes will have also filled Liverpool fans with hope for the season ahead as he looked sharp and worked really hard. Brendan Rodgers side are goign to be built around their hard working central midfield and James Milner and Jordan Henderson look like a pair that can compliment each other and will work very hard for the team allowing Couthino, Lallana and Ibe the necessary space to creat chances for Benteke. Tonight will be a test for the team as this is a game they are expected to win but will be against a solid defensive unit in Bournemouth.

Bournemouth come into this game looking for their first point of their Premier League history. Bournemouth were a little unlucky to lose to Aston Villa last weekend and will have felt like that was a chance that got away for them. Bournemouth brought in some good players in the off season with Gradel being a key player for the newly promoted club as they will need goals to stay in the Premier League and Gradel has shown the potential to be an explosive center forward scoring seventeen goals in twenty three starts in Ligue 1 last season. With Callum Wilson scoring twenty plus goals in each of the last two years this could be a strike partnership that can keep Bournemouth up. Eddie Howe knows his side are going to have to battle for everything they get in this league a marquee result like a win or a point from Liverpool in Anfield would be massive for Bournemouth.

Flip Board

Hard to judge this one, it looks to me like Bournemouth have a really solid defence but they were playing against an Aston Villa team that lack any real forward threat. I think Liverpool will handle the pressure of expectation and get the win here but it will probably be another very tight game and one goal may be enough to seal the three points. Its a tough game to fins some value in though as Liverpool are too short and it is hard to take Bournemouth on the handicap given that they are traveling to Anfield and bound to be nervous. I'm going to take Liverpool to lead at halftime instead as I think Liverpool will come out and look to start fast which is what they did in every home game two years ago when they competed for the league title. It s something that Liverpool have done at home quite regularly under Brendan Rodgers and I think they continue the trend this season.
