Germany vs Scotland

Monday 7th September 2015 14:45(ET)

The Line: Scotland 17/2 Draw 10/3 Germany 2/5 See the Latest Odds

TV: Sky Sports; Fox Sports ; ESPN2

A huge game for Scotland on Monday night as they simply must get a result against Germany if they are to have a chance of qualifying for the Group stages of the Euro's. Gordan Strachan's men suffered an unexpected loss to Geogia on Friday and that loss leaves the Scots a point behind Ireland in the chase for qualification. With home games against Germany and Poland they will have to do it the hard way but technically their fate is in their own hands as wins over both would leave them ahead of Poland on a head to head no matter what the other sides do. It will be interesting to see what line up Strachan goes with but surely Lee Griffiths form for Celtic merits a start in this must win game in Hampden Park. Naismith and Fletcher were guilty of too many fluffed chances in Georgia and surely a mix up of the line up is needed.

Germany had a comfortable 3-1 victory over Poland but with just a two point gap to their nearest rivals in the Group the world Champions will want to get a win here and move one step closer to automatic promotion. The key men against Poland were Bayern team mates Thomas Muller and Mario Goetze as both scored and led the line brilliantly for the Germans. Lowe has an incredibly talented squad and Mezut Ozil is bringing his fine club form with Arsenal to the International game. Kross and Schweinsteiger were excellent in the holding roles in midfield and overall Germany were very impressive against Poland.

Hard to take Scotland here and hard to take Germany at the prices given as they are just too short for what should be a tough away game. Scotland definitely need something from the game or they will put themselves in a really tough spot and for this reason I am going to take the draw at halftime as I see this being a tight and tense game with so much on the line for the home side. It could open up in the second half but I think Scotland play a very compact game in the first half to try to give themselves a solid base to build on.
