PSV travel to Wolfsburg with both teams on three points and anxious to take control of their own destiny in this group. Wolfsburg have a quality side but did lose star man Kevin De Bruynne to Manchester City just before the end of the transfer window. The german side did buy Julian Draxler to replace the departing De Bruynne though and for me they got a great deal , add in former Chelsea star Andre Schurrle and dutch star Dost and you have a side that can give anyone in Europe a game on their day. Kruse has settled in well and overall this is just as talented a Wolfsburg team as the one that finished second last season in the Bundesliga. While they have definitely struggled this season I think they will come good over the season and they will definitely compete here in this tough Champions League group.
PSV created a stir in the group when they beat Manchester United in the Netherlands in week 1 of the Champions League but Philip Cocu's side were full value for their win. They took their chances when they presented themselves and they fought hard and defended well after taking the lead. There is some talent in this PSV group and De Jong, Lestienne both know where the goal is and the latter scored twice in Russia in game week 2. De Jong has had a great start to the season scoring seven goals in eight games. The former Newcastle United striker never really got going in England but he is coming into this season off the back of a 20 goal campaign last year and will not be overawed in Germany where he played two year with Mochengladbach.
This is going to be a really good game between two footballing teams. I am taking both teams to score in what should be an open and expansive game of football. Cocu certianly knows his side might be over matched in terms of spending but in terms of talent this PSV team is right up there with the best at producing young quality players and they will give Wolfsburg plenty to think about here.
