A Tyne Wear derby on Sunday morning with Sunderland hosting Newcastle with both teams rooted to the bottom of the table. Sunderland are bottom of the table and in dire need of a win. Sam Allardyce has only recently taken over as boss at the Stadium of Light and will be looking to get Sunderland's first win of the season against one of the arch rivals. Sunderland have been terrible this season and find themselves in the position they are in due to a lack of investment in the team over the summer. Sunderland will look to Defoe, Fletcher, Borini to fire them out of the relegation zone. One thing in Sunderland's favour though is their recent track record in the derby, Sunderland have won the last five against Newcastle and will look to continue it on Sunday morning.
Newcastle got their first win of the season last weekend an impressive 6-2 win over Norwich but they face a much different task here as Sunderland is a derby and one of the most passionate in English football. With Steve McLaren back in English football at the helm of Newcastle most were expecting McLaren to have an immediate impact. It hasnt happened yet but there is no doubt that last weeks impressive display will go somewhat to apeasing the fans but a win in the Derby would be a huge step to acceptance in the North if McLaren can pull it off. Impressive starts to the season for the brilliant Wijnaldum and Perez has Newcastle fans believeing they can get out of this relegation trouble but Newcastle really need a run of form to get away from the bottom of the table.
Always tough to call derby games, I think that both of these teams have some major problems and it's impossible to know if they can out those problems behind them in a derby or if the problems will be magnified under this pressure. Either way though I think we see goals here, Newcastle have shown that they can find the net and I think Sam Allardyce will make sure that Sunderland go out and give 100% on Sunday. I am taking the overs as i see some value in the market there.
