Manchester City have lost two in a row and will look to bounce back when they host Southampton on Saturday at the Ethiad Arena. With specualtion about the impending departure of Manuel Pelligrini and the signing of Pep Guardiola to a long term contract as Manchester City boss there is sure to be some tension in the air. Manchester City have struggled in recent week, Sergio Aguero returned to the starting line up but does look a little rusty and hasnt been as sharp as he normally is. Sterling, De Bruyne and Toure will need to step up their work rate as the Manchester City attack has been a little lacklustre in their two losses. Fernando and Fernandinho have been City's best players in recent weeks and when defensive midfielders are your best player it tends to mean the team is struggling. With an injury to Joe Hart Willy Caballero will startin goals for Manchester City and Spanish center midfielder David Villa could also return to the line up.
Southampton will be looking to bounce back from a surprising home loss to Stoke City last weekend a game which they dominated possession but really failed to take any of the chances they created. With Pelle, Tadic and Mane up front Ronald Koeman has a plethora of talent and will look to use the pace Southampton possess on the wings in the form of Mane and possibly Shane Long to hit Manchester City on the counter attack. Koeman's side are unbeaten on their travels this year which includes draws at Anfield and a win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Saints will come here in confident mood and while Manchester City have dominated the head to head over the last three seasons i feel like Southampton come into this game in a good place.
I'm going to take Southampton on the Asian Handicap here, I think that Southampton under Ronald Koeman have been very tough to beat and I think that given the current form of both teams Southampton with a goal head start looks a terrific bet. At worst I think we end up with a push.
