The second game from the Championship is another cracking fixture with the bang in form Nottingham Forrest hosting QPR at the City Ground. New QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has his work cut out for him as QPR are chasing the playoffs and are currently eleven points off sixth. Really the R's need a win here and need to go on a run of wins. Since taking over Hasselbaink has seen the failings of this squad, a lack of goals and it is something the club must address in the January window especially after allowing Charlie Austin leave for Southampton. Fer, Hoilett and Polter will have to pick up the slack in the absence of Austin up front. How QPR could do with a striker of the same calibre as their manager!
Nottingham Forrest knocked off league leaders Middlesbrough on Saturday in a game that Forrest played very well and manager Freedman's tactical plan worked a dream. Deploying Mancienne as a sweeper was a terrific success and Forrest hit Middlebrough on the counter and won the game with a clinically dispatched goal by lone front man Jamie Ward. Ward, Oliviera are the two strikers who tend to start when at home and I think Freedman will deploy an orthodox 4-4-2 tonight. Oliviera has seven goals this season and is the top scorer for Forrest this year. This is a team that could move up the table. Unbeaten at home in their last ten games and unbeaten in their last twelve overall Forrest look like a team set to make a run for the playoffs a win here against QPR would be a great start.
Tough one here. While I believe that QPR are a team that is better than their current standings they just do not have the firepower needed to maintain a push for the playoffs in my opinion. Nottingham Forrest are hard to read but I have been impressed in their recent run. I'm going to take Forrest to get the home win here and edge closer to the playoff spots.
