What a mouthwatering game we have instore for us on Wednesday night as Real Madrid travel to Rome to take on Roma at the Olympic Stadium. Roma have already faced Barcelona this season in the Champions League and will hope that they can repeat the 1-1 draw against a hiugjly fancied Real Madrid. Roma went through a really rough patch around the end of November/December but have steadied the ship and have now won four games in a row in Serie A to get themselves back in the picture for Champions League football. With Dzeko, Gervinho, Pjanic, El Sharawaay and Salah this is a talented bunch of players and Roma are somewhat under achieving domestically as their rough patch seen them fall out of contention for the scudetto. I do think though that the reappointment of Spaletti has rejuvenated the squad and we could be in for a barn storming finish to the season for Roma.
With Real Madrid sacking Rafa Benitez and appointing Zinedine Zidane their season was on the line, to be fair the team have responded well and have gone on a six game unbeaten run under Zidane. It is tough to see Real closign the gap on Barcelona in La Liga as Barca just dont look like losing many games this season and Real would have to win the rest of their schedule and hope Barca lose at least two more as well as losing to Real. Unlikely but at the same time not impossible. With Cristiano Ronaldo rejuvenated under Zidane the Portugese superstar has now scored five in his last three games and has hit twenty one for the season, with Bale on fifteen and Benzema on nineteen goals are obviously not a problem for this side at the moment. Real though have looked a little lethargic at the back and Roma are improving of late and could fancy their chances of getting at them on Wednesday.
Obviously in most games Real MAdrid are going to be favourites but I have to say I dont think they warrant the favouritism here. Roma are very tough to beat at the Stadio Olympico and I am going to take the home side +1 on the handicap. I think at worst this one finishes a draw for Roma but I could see them maybe sneaking it. Take the home underdog on the handicap and sit in to watch what should be a really exciting tactical battle.
