A simply must win game for Newcastle United on Saturday as they face an inform Bournemouth on Saturday at St James Park. The Magpies are in serious relegation trouble and if they do not start picking up points at home then Newcastle will find themselves in the Championship again. Newcastle have so much talent in the squad that it's tough to understand why they are having such a poor season. Steve Mclaren's job is definitely at risk and if Newcastle lose on Saturday I think Mclaren will be fired. That sort of pressure is going to effect how both the manager and team approach this game. Newcastle's best player this season Wijnaldum will be key going forward with Mitrovic, Cissokho and Perez all needing to be more effective. But Newcastle have been picking up points at home eight points in their last four games at home with just one loss to Everton proves that Newcastle have to pick up points here, the home games are going to be so important if Newcastle are to survive.
Surprising state for me with regard to Bournemouth , they have lost just one of their last eight away games. Four draws and three wins over those eight games have definitely helped Bournemouth move away from the relegation zone and they are now eight points clear of the drop zone. Eddie Howe's January move for Ben Afobe has definitely been a success. Four goals in eight games have been a phenomenal return for the former Arsenal center forward. Bournemouth are a tough team to beat right now and they will give this their all. Howe has obviously had success away from home setting his team up to not concede playing a 4-5-1 and protecting the back four. I think given Newcastle's struggles up front will give Bournemouth hope that they can take something here.
I like the draw here, I think this game ends up being one of those tough to win games but Newcastle being at home does give me a slight lean to them. At the prices quoted though the draw appeals and I think both teams could cancel each other out. I also think that Newcastle cant afford to lose this one and Bournemouth may be just happy with the point that in itself could leave us to the stalemate.
