The New York City FC look to take that next step after a 10-17-7 record in their first season in the MLS. The fans of New York City have to be excited given that there’s some solid talent on this year’s squad. David Villa returns after leading New York with 18 goals, Kwadwo Poku had seven assists and Patrick Mullins had 38 shots. Defensively, Josh Saunders returns as goalkeeper after leading New York with four shutouts and 123 saves. Chicago Fire won the first meeting against New York City FC, and the most recent match in May resulted in a 2-2 draw. The two matches combined for five goals.
Both of these clubs were flat out awful on the defensive end last season, so the over will be worth a look once the line is released. In terms of a side, I’m picking a draw. It’s just too tough to pick a team to win when both allow goals at a high percentage.
