Interesting match up for the early game on Sunday as Liverpool travel to Saint Mary's to take on Southampton fresh off their win over Manchester United in the Europa League. Liverpool have a quarter final with Borussia Dortmund to look forward to with Jurgen Klopp almost destined to meet his old team. Daniel Sturridge, Phillip Couthino and Firminho are as good a top three as there is in the Premier League right now and they will definitely be looking to test a Southampton defence who have struggled at times this year. The red have a quality team going forward but have definitely struggled for consistency this year. Liverpool have also struggled defensively especially on the road. With Klopp demanding work ethic from the team Henderson, Milner and Caan have been essential to Liverpool's progress. There is no doubt that Liverpool have improved under Klopp and if the reds can continue to improve then there is a chance that Liverpool could go and win the Europa League and be in next year's Champions League. But Klopp will be anxious to move up the table and continue to win games , this is an important one for the reds.
Southampton have been a team that is very tough to predict this season. The Saints had a terrible start to the season were really struggling coming up to Christmas then the Saints put together a five games winning streak that seen them close to within a point of fifth. Ronald Koeman will look to the revitalised Pelle, Mane and Tadic to take the game to Liverpool. Southampton will welcome back Wanyama this weekend and the former Celtic midfielder is one of the best defensive midfielders in football he will break up the play between liverpool's midfield and attack. In addition the Saints attackers will take the game to a shaky Liverpool defence.Shane Long, Mane, Tadic and Pelle have the quality to open up any defence and I think that they will fancy their chances here against a Liverpool team that have played five games in the last two and a half weeks.
I am going to take Southampton straight up here, I think this is a classic let down spot for Liverpool. Southampton are also a very solid team with a good defence and attacking players that can hurt Liverpool.
