Bayern Munich travel to the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica to take on a Benfica team who are not going to be over- awed.
Bayern lead 1-0 from the first leg but the German Champions were not all that impressive in the opening leg. Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski , Frank Ribery all struggled to break down a resolute Benfica defence. There is bundles of talent in this Bayern team though and with Pep Guardiola on his way to Manchester City next season, winning the Champions League would be a great way to go out on top. Arjen Robben is still struggling with injury and is unlikely to make the squad for this game, the brilliant dutch winger will be missed if he doesn't make it as his trickery and vision create a lot of Bayern's chances.
The best thing for Benfica going into this game is knowing they must win the game to advance. Benfica created plenty of chances in the opening leg but Jonas was uncharacteristically wasteful. The veteran striker who has thirty goals in twenty nine league games this season will need to be more clinical in front of goal if Benfica are to get the job done here, Mitroglu has also been impressive for Benfica this season and the pair between them have 48 goals in the league.
Bayern Munich are 3-6 in their last 9 Champions League away games, Munich have scored in 6 of their last 9 away Champions League games and are 6-0 in their last 6 overall.
Benfica have 5-3 in their last 8 home Champions League games, Benfica are 9-1 in their last 10 overall , Benfica have scored in 21 of their last 22 games overall.
I'm taking Benfica on the handicap here. I think the home side may come up just short but I believe they can give Bayern Munich a great game here and wouldn't be surprised if this one ended up in extra time or Bayern won on away goals. I think the Oddsmakers are underestimating Benfica and I fancy the Portugese side to upset the German Champions here.
