The Colorado Rapids and New York Red Bulls meet Saturday night at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
The Colorado Rapids look for another victory after a solid 3-2-1 start to the season. The Colorado Rapids are led by a defense that’s allowed four goals this season and has produced two shutouts. Offensively, the Rapids have four players with 10 or more shots, making them a balanced and scary team in the East at the moment. Luis Solignac leads Colorado with two goals, Marco Pappa has three assists and Shkëlzen Gashi has 18 shots. Defensively, Zac MacMath has come away with 13 saves on 19 shots faced. The Colorado Rapids have come away with points in five of their last seven regular season home games.

The New York Red Bulls could use three points here after a brutal 1-5 start to the season. The New York Red Bulls are falling apart due to a defense that’s allowed 13 goals already, including four goals in their last two matches. It also doesn’t help that the Red Bulls have been shutout in three straight matches. The New York Red Bulls better figure things out quickly before it’s too late. Felipe leads New York with two goals, Sacha Kljestan has one assist and Bradley Wright-Phillips has 23 shots. Defensively, Luis Robles has come away with 17 saves on 30 shots faced. The New York Red Bulls have lost five of their last seven regular season road games.
The last two meetings between these two teams have resulted in a draw, however, the Rapids are 2-1-2 in the last five matches against the Red Bulls. At least one goal has been scored by both teams in four of the last five matches.
I’m not sure how anyone can back the Red Bulls as we knew their defense was bad, but now they can’t find the back of the net either. It’s flat out ugly for New York right now. I’m taking the Rapids at home for the victory.
