Toronto FC and FC Dallas meet Saturday night at the BMO Field.
Toronto FC takes the field at home for the first time this season after starting the year with eight straight road matches. Toronto FC has held its own with the third best record in the Eastern Conference, and it starts with a defense that’s allowed seven goals overall and has pitched three shutouts. Offensively, Toronto FC has two players with double-digit shot attempts and has found the back of the net in four straight matches. Sebastian Giovinco leads Toronto with six goals, Will Johnson has three assists and Jozy Altidore has six shots. Defensively, Clint Irwin has come away with 27 saves on 35 shots faced. Toronto FC has won four of its last five home games.
USA TODAY Sports
FC Dallas look to keep rolling after an impressive 5-3-2 start to the season. FC Dallas is relying on an offense that’s scored 15 goals overall but has been shutout in each of its last two matches. FC Dallas could use a win here after being outscored 7-0 in the last two matches. Defensively, FC Dallas has issues to figure out as there’s been 38 shots on goal allowed. Michael Barrios leads Dallas with four goals, Mauro Diaz has four assists and Maximiliano Urruti has 33 shots. Defensively, Chris Seitz has come away with 21 saves on 30 shots faced. FC Dallas has earned points in five of its last 10 road matches.
FC Dallas has gotten the better of Toronto recently, as its won the last two matches and is 3-0-2 in the last five meetings overall. The last three matches between these two teams have produced three or more goals.
Toronto FC is going to be jacked up after spending all this time on the road and finally being able to play on its home field. Just that and the fact Toronto has been able to flex its muscle defensively, I like the home team to come away with the three points here.
