Brazil and Ecuador square off late Saturday night in Copa America at the Rose Bowl Stadium.
Even without Douglas Costa and one of the best players in the world in Neymar, Brazil is still considered one of the favorites in Copa America. Brazil has won this tournament five times and is still loaded enough to beat anybody in this field. Brazil simply has several players who can provide instant offense as Kaká, Hulk, Dani Alves and Willian have shown the ability to find the back of the net. The problem with Brazil is the consistency on the offensive side, and if that doesn’t change rather quickly, coach Dunga could be looking for a new job sooner than later. Overall, Brazil is the total package from experience, defense and the overwhelming talent on the offensive end. It’s all a matter of putting things together and making a run at a title.

Ecuador has to be motivated for a strong showing in this tournament after not making it out of the group stages since 1997. There’s no reason why Ecuador can’t snap that streak, as Enner Valencia has the playmaking ability to win a match by himself. Jefferson Montero is another young player who can provide instant offense and Jaime Ayoví has been able to hold his own as well. Ecuador is extremely deep on the offensive end with seven players with at least six goals, and five of those players are 28 years old or younger. Just imagine how much scarier Ecuador would be in this tournament if Felipe Caicedo didn’t get injured. If Ecuador can find quality shots and gain some confidence early, this is the team few want to play.
That plus money and Ecuador is very intriguing given the firepower they have. However, I think Brazil is going to treat this tournament seriously and is hungry for some serious success after a few recent disappointments. There should be a pro Brazil crowd out in California, and they should come out with a lot of energy.
I’ll take Brazil to win this match for the cheap price.
