The United States and Argentina square off Tuesday night in the 2016 Copa America semifinals at NRG Stadium.
The United States is coming off a 2-1 quarterfinal win over Ecuador and hopes to make history with a victory here. The US allowed just three of 18 shots to be on target and watched Brad Guzan come away with big play after big play. Speaking of stepping up, Clint Dempsey continues to put the squad on his back, as he now has two goals and seven shot attempts in his last two matches. The United States have shown in their last three matches just how dangerous they can be when they play aggressive from start to finish. The concern for the US in this match is that Jermaine Jones, Bobby Wood and Alejandro Bedoya will all be forced to watch from the sidelines due to suspension. USA has never made the final of the Copa America.

Argentina is coming off an effortless 4-1 victory over Venezuela in the quarterfinals. In the victory, Argentina got six of its 11 shot attempts on target and controlled the ball for more than 63 percent of the match. Lionel Messi continues to lead the way on the offensive end while the defense has allowed just two goals in its last four matches overall. Argentina has outscored its opponents 14-2 in this tournament and is showing everybody why it was the considerable favorite to win this whole thing. Argentina has to feel good about its chances to win its first major tournament in quite some time given its current form. Argentina hopes to make the Copa America final for the fourth time in its last five appearances.
The United States were in over its head before the match even started, but now it's without three key players, including Wood, who had the athleticism and speed to cause matchup issues. This has the potential to get ugly, especially if Argentina continues its aggressive attack on the offensive end from start to finish.
I’ll be rooting for the US to prove me wrong and pull off a massive upset, but it’s hard to see right now.
Argentina likely advances to the Copa America final.
