Real Madrid vs Manchester United 02/13/2013: Anthony's Free UEFA Champions League Soccer Pick and Preview

The tie of the round or the Perfect Game as it is being described by Sky Sports can Manchester United and Madrid live up to its billing?

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourhino may already have eyes on the exit door at the Bernabeu as rumours persist of his impending departure in the summer, but one thing is for certain a loss in this round of the Champions League will see the Special one exit the Madrid job if not now definitely in the summer. Real Madrid have a team of superstars led by Cristiano Ronaldo who is undoubtedly the second best if not the best player on the planet. Ronaldo will face his former team for the first time on Wednesday night and has stated publicly he will not celebrate if he scores against them. Ronaldo's best time in his career was at Old Trafford he has been quoted as saying recently and he still has many friends there in the form of Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra in particular. This game for Ronaldo will be a huge night and it will be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure from the Madrid crowd. Real with Modric, Higuain, Kaka, Benzema , Ozil and Di Maria have no shortage of attacking talent but Madrid seem somewhat ruderless when Ronaldo has an off night and that is what Manchester United will be hoping to accomplish on Wednesday night.

Manchester United though missing Ronaldo have effectively went about building another Champions League winning side and Ferguson has built around Wayne Rooney. The addition of Kagawa and Van Persie in the summer are the perfect compliment to an already mouth watering attack that includes Antonio Valencia, Chicarito , Danny Wellbeck and Nani. Ferguson knows that his team must shut down their former teammate and he will look to Michael Carrick to do a man marking job on Ronaldo, closing down the space and not letting his get a clear run at United's rearguard. Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic will be hoping to marshall the backline with Rio Ferdinand at his side and the latter's pace will be tested over and over by Higuain and Ronaldo.

This game represent a huge test for both teams. Robin Van Persie came to Old Trafford to play in nights like this and I have a feeling the former Arsenal captain will have a huge say in this tie. Real Madrid are unbeaten at home this season but trailed at home to both Manchester City and Borussia DortmundĀ in the Champions League earlier this season. Madrid must come out and attack as they will look for a lead to take to Old Trafford and Manchester United are one of the best counter attacking teams in the world. I just see this one being an open affair and I'm going to take both teams to score. If I was pushed on a side I think I would probably take Manchester United at 9/2, the price is ridiculously big or 1/1 +1 on the handicap. Either way make sure you catch this game. Its going to be an absolute cracker. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
