It’s only fitting that the 2014 Men’s French Open Final comes down to Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The two top players in the world.

I still don’t think Nadal has broken a sweat in this tournament, as he’s needed only 19 sets to advance to the final. David Ferrer is the only player yet who was able to take a set from the reigning French Open champ. Even Andy Murray was overpowered in Nadal’s most recent match, as he couldn’t win more than three games in any of their three sets. Of course, this is Nadal’s fifth straight French Open final, and would be his fifth straight title win if he tops Djokovic. Nadal is considered the king of clay for a reason, as he has won eight of the last nine French Open titles.

Rafael Nadal vs. Novak Djokovic 2014 French Open Final Pick, Odds, Prediction

Djokovic hasn’t been as dominant against lesser competition than Nadal, but he hasn’t been a slouch either. Djokovic has only lost two sets in his first six matches, one against Marin Cilic and one in his most recent match against Ernests Gulbis. Djokovic looks like his usual self, playing with great power and making very few mistakes. In his match against Gulbis, Djokovic had 30 winners to 25 unforced errors. This is Djokovic’s second French Open final in three years, but it’s still the only Grand Slam he’s never won.

This is your classic rivalry that tennis fans drool over, as Nadal leads their all-time series, 21-19. However, things have been a little lopsided as of late, as Djokovic has won their last four meetings, including both matches this year in the Miami Masters and Rome Masters. Djokovic has also beaten Nadal in their last two matches on clay.

While it seems like Djokovic has figured out Nadal lately, Nadal is playing like a man possessed and has looked a little sharper than Djokovic in this tournament. Not to mention that this is Nadal’s Grand Slam event, as there’s not many people who can even come close to beating him on this surface.

While Djokovic can make this interesting, there’s no way I’m picking against Nadal knowing his history at this Grand Slam.
