The Line: Andy Murray See the Latest Odds
Andy Murray and Kevin Anderson will meet up in the fourth round of the 2014 Wimbledon.
Murray seems to have rehabbed nicely from his back injury, as he’s won his first three matches with ease in three quick sets. In fact, Murray’s last six sets didn’t take any more than nine games to seal the victory. Of course, Murray has always been at his best at the Wimbledon, reaching the last two finals and winning the title last season. We knew he was going to be a tough out, and that will continue to be the case as long as he keeps making it look easy and limits his unforced errors to almost nothing. Murray has reached at least the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon in six straight years.

This is the furthest Anderson has ever reached in the Wimbledon, as he just won a five-set match in upset fashion against Fabio Fognini. Two of Anderson’s three matches have gone four or five sets, of course, giving Murray the huge advantage in the rest department. Anderson has never been great in Grand Slam events, as he has never reached the quarterfinals in any of the four events. Still, Anderson is always a tough play given his long, lengthy frame and overwhelming serve. It always gives him a shot to upset anybody he plays.
These players have met twice in the past and the series is split. In fact, Anderson won the most recent match at the 2011 Canadian Masters, winning in straight sets easily. Murray won the other meeting in the 2010 Australian Open, a match that was over before it began in three sets. This will be the first time these two have ever played one another on grass.
I really like Anderson’s game and believe he has what it takes to make the match interesting. However, this is the Wimbledon and Murray has played only nine sets, while Anderson has played 12 sets.
Give me Murray for the win in three sets.
