TV:

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stan Wawrinka meet in the semifinal of the 2015 French Open.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has dropped three sets in this tournament and is coming off a five setter against Kei Nishikori. Tsonga has played 84 games in his last two matches and two tiebreaks overall. Tsonga has won at least 74 percent of his first serve points and has hit 87 winners in his last two matches. Tsonga has gotten at least 61 percent of his first serves in play in his last three matches, and he’s combined for 23 aces in his last two matches. Tsonga is simply playing some of his best tennis in years. Tsonga’s main weakness right now has to be questions of fatigue starting to set in after five sets. Tsonga has reached just one major final of his career, which was the 2008 Australian Open.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. Stan Wawrinka 2015 French Open, Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Stan Wawrinka dropped just one set all tournament and is coming off a straight sets win over Roger Federer. Wawrinka has played 32 or less games in four of his five matches and just one tie break. Wawrinka has won at least 70 percent of his first serve points and has hit 77 winners in his last two matches. Wawrinka is getting at least 43 percent of his first serves in play and has 17 aces in his last three matches. Wawrinka looks to be in rare form and has to be very confident after beating Federer, somebody who gave him trouble his whole career. Wawrinka must clean up his 70 unforced errors in his last two matches if he hopes to make a real run at his second major title. Wawrinka looks to reach just his second major final and first since last year’s Australian Open.

These two have played each other six times, and the series is tied at six apiece. Wawrinka has won their last two matchups, including their recent meeting in France vs. Switzerland back in 2014. This will be the third time these two have played in the French Open, and both have won a match and both of them have gone five sets. The last five times these two have played each other has been on clay surface.

If history is any indication of things to come, this should be a hell of a match. While Tsonga is playing extremely well, I can’t be against Wawrinka given his experience and the road he’s taken to get here. Wawrinka has to feel he can win this tournament after beating the hell out of Federer. I took Wawa in his last match and I’m taking him again.
