Mikhail Kukushkin vs. Andy Murray 2015 Wimbledon Tennis Pick, Odds, Prediction

June 29, 2015 Wimbledon

The Line: Mikhail Kukushkin +2800 / Andy Murray -6200 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

Mikhail Kukushkin and Andy Murray meet Monday in the first round of the 2015 Wimbledon.

Mikhail Kukushkin has had a tough season, as he’s lost five of his last six matches and is coming off a loss to Alexander Zverev in which he gained just two points. Reaching the Apia International final back in January seems like forever ago for Kukushkin, who is currently ranked 58th in the world. Kukushkin is making way too many unforced errors and is struggling to hold serve on top of that. Simply put, Kukushkin has shown no signs of turning things around so another solid performance at the Wimbledon this time around seems highly, highly unlikely. Kukushkin has been bounced in the first round of his last three major appearances. Kukushkin has surpassed the first round just once in his Wimbledon career, which was last year.

Mikhail Kukushkin vs. Andy Murray 2015 Wimbledon Tennis Pick, Odds, Prediction

Andy Murray got some extra practice in after the French Open, as he’s coming off a Queen's Club Championships title with a win over Kevin Anderson. Murray has won 10 of his last 11 singles matches and looks to be in some of the best form we’ve seen him before the injury. Murray is moving around better, hitting his spots and finishing matches rather quickly. In fact, six of Murray’s last 11 matches have ended in straight sets. You always worry about nagging injuries creeping back up and fatigue setting in, but right now, there’s nothing to worry about with Murray. Murray hasn’t been eliminated in the first round of a major since the 2008 Australian Open. Murray has reached the final in two of his last three Wimbledon appearances.

This will be the third time these two have played each other, and Murray has won the first two meetings. The last meeting was in the 2012 Australian Open, and this will be the first time they’ve met on grass. The other time was in Brisbane in 2012, a match that was decided in three sets.

Honestly, I’m surprised the line isn’t larger if that’s even possible. Kukushkin is in horrible form, and nothing will change facing one of the top players in the world.
