Roger Federer is coming off a straight sets win over Damir Dzumhur, which took just over an hour to finish. Federer got 64 percent of his first serves in play and won 85 percent of those points. Federer won 67 percent of his net points and 74 percent of his second serve points. Federer hit six aces, 26 winners and had just 12 unforced errors. Federer continues to do a great job of finishing points and matches quickly, which help with his fatigue moving forward in tournaments. Federer hasn’t been eliminated in the second round of a grand slam since the 2013 Wimbledon. Of course, that was the only time since 2003 that Federer hasn’t reached at least the quarterfinals of this tournament.
These two have played twice, and Federer has won both meetings. Their most recent meeting was in the 2008 French Open, a match that was decided in straight sets. Querrey has yet to take a set from Federer, and this is the first time they’ll meet on grass.
I like Querrey and think he can put up a hell of a fight, but Federer is simply in far better form and has him beat in just about every area. This is also a grand slam that Federer still has a solid shot of winning. I can’t bet against Federer this early.
