Serena Williams and Garbine Muguruza meet Saturday in the 2015 Wimbledon final.

Serena Williams is coming off a straight sets win over Maria Sharapova, which lasted a little more than an hour. Serena has dropped just two sets this tournament and has played about three and a half hours of tennis her last two matches. Serena is winning at least 71 percent of her first serve points and 41 percent of her second serve points. Serena has combined for 30 aces and 75 winners in her last two matches. Serena has been completely dialed in since her scary third round match against Heather Watson. Serena is hitting all her spots and has had no more than 15 unforced errors her last three matches. Serena hasn’t lost a grand slam final since the 2011 U.S. Open. Serena hopes to win her sixth career Wimbledon crown.

Serena Williams vs. Garbine Muguruza 2015 Wimbledon Final Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Garbine Muguruza is coming off a three set victory over Agnieszka Radwanska, which lasted nearly two hours. Muguruza has dropped three sets this tournament and has played three and a half hours of tennis her last two matches. Muguruza is winning at least 63 percent of her first serve points and 32 percent of her second serve points. Muguruza has combined for six aces and 56 winners in her last two matches. Muguruza has been in control of every match this tournament and has covered a ton of ground, putting pressure on her opponent. However, Muguruza has 20-plus unforced errors in three of her last four matches. This is Muguruza’s first career grand slam final appearance. Muguruza only real previous grand slam success has been back-to-back quarterfinals trips in the French Open.

These two have played three times, and Serena has won two of those meetings. The most recent meeting was this year’s Australian Open, a match that Serena won in three sets. Muguruza’s win over Serena came in the 2014 French Open, a match she won in straight sets. This will be the first time these two meet on grass.

Muguruza is no slouch, as she has five wins over top 10 players just this year. Muguruza is only 21 years old! However, Serena is a different breed and is damn near impossible to fade in a final. I give Muguruza a shot, but I’m not betting against Serena.
