Novak Djokovic and Roberto Bautista Agut meet in the fourth round of the 2015 US Open.
Novak Djokovic is coming off a straight sets win over Andreas Seppi and has played just nine sets this tournament. Djokovic is winning at least 77 percent of his first serve points and 57 percent of his second serve points. Djokovic has hit 25 aces, 88 winners and 57 unforced errors in his first three matches. As expected, Djokovic has cruised through his first three matches and hasn’t even really been tested to this point. Djokovic just knows how to turn it on during grand slams and this tournament has been no different so far. Djokovic hasn’t been eliminated before the quarterfinals of a grand slam since the 2009 French Open. Djokovic has reached the quarterfinals of the US Open ever year since 2007.
USA TODAY Sports
Roberto Bautista Agut is coming off a victory over David Goffin after he retired, and he’s played 12 sets this tournament. Agut is winning at least 65 percent of his first serve points and 43 percent of his second serve points. Agut has combined for 25 aces, 44 winners and 44 unforced errors in his first three matches. Agut is coming off a match that he probably would have lost if it wasn’t for Goffin retiring. Agut has to play a cleaner game this time around and has to be a lot more effective with his second serve if he’s going to pull off the upset. Agut has never reached the quarterfinal of a grand slam in his career. This will be Agut’s fourth time playing in the fourth round of a grand slam.
These two have played twice in the past, and Djokovic has won both meetings in straight sets. Both matches took place in Dubai, with the most recent coming in 2014. This will be the third time Djokovic and Agut meet on hard court.
This should be another quick three setter for Djokovic, as Agut doesn’t have anything going for him to pull off the upset.
