Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem meet Saturday in the Final of the 2016 Nice Open.

Alexander Zverev is coming off a three set victory over Joao Sousa that took 28 games to decide. Zverev continues to turn heads as he’s been able to battle through three straight matches of very long sets and find a way to beat some pretty solid players. Zverev has now won 10 of his last 13 singles matches and is climbing up the rankings pretty quickly for someone who just turned 19 years old. Zverev has been the surprise of the tournament and a victory here would give him big time confidence before heading into his fourth career major appearance. This is Zverev’s first career final appearance and easily his biggest match of his young career.

Alexander Zverev vs. Dominic Thiem 2016 Nice Open Final Pick, Odds, Prediction

Dominic Thiem is coming off a straight sets win over Adrian Mannarino that was decided in 16 games. Thiem continues to play high level tennis the past few weeks and has lost just 13 games this entire tournament. Thiem has now won his last five matches in straight sets and has simply been on a role the past few months. Thiem is making very little unforced errors and is consistent with his service game. With Thiem in this form, he could become a top-10 player for the first time in his career. This will be Thiem’s fourth final appearance this season and first since the BMW Open. Thiem looks for his sixth career title, and he is 4-2 in final appearances that take place on clay court.

These two have met once before, which was in this year's Munich Open, a match Thiem won in 27 games. This will obviously be the second time these two meet on clay court.

Zverev has made me look foolish already this tournament and has a shot here considering he has nine career wins over top-10 players. However, Thiem is downright rolling right now and is very comfortable on clay court considering four of his five titles have come on the surface.

The match should be entertaining, but I have Thiem getting the victory.
