TV:

Agnieszka Radwanska and Caroline Garcia meet in the second round of the 2016 French Open.

Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a straight sets win over Bojana Jovanovski that took 14 games to decide. In the victory, Radwanska won 76 percent of her first serve points and 40 percent of her second serve points. Radwanska dominated the match, as she won the first set 6-0 and had just nine unforced errors. When Radwanska plays clean tennis, she can beat just about anybody in this tournament. Radwanska looks sharp and is somebody who has won 10 of her last 15 matches. Radwanska has made at least the third round of a grand slam in 10 of her last 12 appearances. Radwanska has failed to reach the third round of the French Open three times in her career.

Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Caroline Garcia 2016 French Open Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Caroline Garcia is coming off a straight sets win over Lesia Tsurenko that took 21 games to decide. In the victory, Garcia won 68 percent of her first serve points and 60 percent of her second serve points. Garcia allowed the match to be a little longer than needed due to 28 unforced errors. Overall, however, Garcia looked very impressive and has to be super confident with her being fresh off a Strasbourg Open title. Garcia is quickly climbing up the rankings and her success with doubles partner Kristina Mladenovic is clearly carrying over to her singles success. Garcia is a very dangerous player right now. Garcia has reached the third round of a grand slam twice in her career. Those took place in the 2015 Australian Open and 2014 Wimbledon.

These two have played three times in the past, and Radwanska has won two of those meetings. The most recent match was in the 2015 Dubai Tennis Championships, a match Radwanska won in three sets. Garcia’s one win over Radwanska came in the 2014 Wuhan Open. All three matches went the distance.

Given the head to head history and their current form, this is probably going to be a long three set match that could eventually become a coin flip. You have to give the edge to Radwanska due to her history in these matches and overall more success. However, Garcia is hot at the right time and an upset wouldn’t surprise me.

I’ll side with Radwanska in three sets.
