Karlovic came into this tournament extremely shaky after losing 10 of his last 12 matches. But if Karlovic can be that consistent with his service game, he’s going to be a tough out moving forward. Karlovic has reached the third round of a grand slam twice since 2014. Karlovic has made the third round of the French Open twice.

Jordan Thompson is coming off a straight sets win over Laslo Djere that took 31 games to decide. In the victory, Thompson won 72 percent of his first serve points and 72 percent of his second serve points. Thompson handled his first round match with ease, as he lost just seven games in his first two sets. Thompson had just 22 unforced errors and got 68 percent of his first serves in play. Thompson is trying to introduce himself to the world as a 22-year-old Australian who just recently cracked the top-100. A victory here would easily be the biggest of Thompson’s young career. This is Thompson’s first second round appearance in a grand slam.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
This is a match that could produce an upset given that Karlovic hasn’t exactly had a successful 2016, and he’s not known for grand slam success. Thompson has been flying up the rankings the last year or so and comes into this match as a dangerous player who doesn’t beat himself often.
Call me crazy, but I like the chances of an upset here. Give me Thompson in the first shocker of the tournament.
