TV:

Rafael Nadal and Marcel Granollers square off in the third round of the 2016 French Open.

Rafael Nadal is coming off a straight sets win over Facundo Bagnis that took 23 games to decide. In the victory, Nadal won 70 percent of his first serve points and 56 percent of his second serve points. Nadal has lost just nine games in his first two matches and is getting no less than 78 percent of his first serves in play. If Nadal can continue to serve the way he has, he’s going to be very tough to beat moving forward. Nadal is clearly back in peak form and has established himself as possibly the biggest threat to Novak Djokovic for the French Open title. Nadal has reached the fourth round in six of his last nine grand slam appearances.

USA TODAY Sports

Marcel Granollers is coming off a win over Nicolas Mahut after he retired in the third set. In the victory, Granollers won 66 percent of his first serve points and 67 percent of his second serve points. Granollers is winning no less than 63 percent of his service points and has racked up 50 winners in his first two matches. When you add the fact he’s had just 23 combined unforced errors this tournament, Granollers is a threat to pull off an upset in this match if he can keep up this level of play. Granollers should also be well rested for this match considering he’s played just five full sets. Granollers has not reached the fourth round of a grand slam since the 2014 French Open.

These two have met four times, and Nadal has won all four meetings in straight sets. The most recent match was in this year's Barcelona Open. Granollers has managed to win 22 games against Nadal in eight sets. This will be the third match on clay court.

It’s quite clear Nadal is back to being Nadal, and you don’t pick against him often when he’s on clay. Nadal is poised for a big run and possibly his first grand slam title since the 2014 French Open.

Given the history between these two, Nadal should win this in straight sets.
