TV:

Agnieszka Radwanska and Tsvetana Pironkova meet in the fourth round of the 2016 French Open.

Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a three set win over Barbora Strycova that took 29 games to decide. In the victory, Radwanska won 56 percent of her first serve points and 53 percent of her second serve points. Radwanska struggled with her service game in the third round win and had 26 unforced errors, but she made the shots when needed and pretty much dominated the two sets she won. Radwanska has racked up 41 winners in her last two matches and is getting no less than 60 percent of her first serves in play. For the most part, Radwanska looks to be in impressive form. Radwanska hopes to make the quarterfinals of a grand slam for the third time in her last four appearances. Radwanska has a shot to make her second quarters appearance in the French Open.

Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Tsvetana Pironkova 2016 French Open Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Tsvetana Pironkova is coming off a straight sets win over Sloane Stephens that took 15 games to decide. In the victory, Pironkova won 79 percent of her first serve points and 78 percent of her second serve points. Pironkova has yet to drop a set this tournament and just beat down a top-20 player in the world. Pironkova has produced 40 winners in her last two matches and is coming off a win in which she had just nine unforced errors. It’s been awhile since Pironkova has been relevant in a big tournament, but she’s starting to look like the player she was years ago. Pironkova hopes to make her first grand slam quarterfinal appearance since the 2011 Wimbledon. This is the first time Pironkova will play in the fourth round of the French Open.

These two have met 11 times in the past, and Radwanska has won nine of those meetings. The most recent match was in the 2015 Eastbourne Open, a match Radwanska won in 16 games. Pironkova’s last win over Radwanska came in the 2012 Eastbourne Open. This will be the fifth time these two meet on clay court.

I don’t put anything past Pironkova with the way she’s hitting the ball, but Radwanska has been more consistent in big matches and she’s owned the head to head. Beating an inconsistent and sloppy Stephens is one thing, beating the No. 2 player in the world is another. Not to mention Pironkova hasn’t beaten a top-10 player since 2014.

I’m siding with Radwanska for the victory.
