the Line -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Gilles Simon and Grigor Dimitrov square off early in the second round of the 2016 Wimbledon.
Gilles Simon is coming off a four set win over Janko Tipsarevic that took three and a half hours. In the victory, Simon won 59 of 89 first serve points and racked up 27 winners to 38 unforced errors. Simon came into this tournament in questionable form and you’d still like to see more winners than unforced errors, but he played fairly well overall and has to be confident considering he made the quarterfinals of last years Wimbledon. Simon just has to keep being aggressive at the net in order to advance. Simon hopes to make the third round of a grand slam for the third straight appearance. Simon has won eight of his last 12 matches on grass.

Grigor Dimitrov is coming off a straight sets win over Bjorn Fratangelo that took an hour and a half. In the victory, Dimitrov won 47 of 71 first serve points and racked up 24 winners and 16 unforced errors. Dimitrov won his first match since the Istanbul Open, as he entered this tournament on a six-match losing streak. Dimitrov has been struggling with his first serve for quite some time and his confidence has been shot as well. Dimitrov was a top-10 player a couple of years ago, so it’ll be interesting to see if this can be a turning point for him. Dimitrov looks to reach the third round of a grand slam for the fourth time since 2015. Dimitrov has split his last 10 matches on grass.
These two have met six times in the past and Simon leads the series, 5-1. The most recent match was in this year's Monte Carlo Masters, a match Simon won in straight sets. Dimitrov’s only win over Simon came in this year's Brisbane International.
Dimitrov just isn’t the same player he’s been in the past, and now he’s going against a hot Simon who has owned the head to head. This just isn’t a good spot for him right now.
I like Simon in four sets.
